Artist&Pianist
I am happy to announce the Rhine cruise classical playlist! Travel and music have always gone hand in hand. Composers from Mozart to Liszt drew inspiration from landscapes, cultures, salons, and the cities they encountered while on the road. Music was shaped by borders crossed, languages heard, and traditions absorbed. Mendelssohn and Berlioz wrote about their travels and their inspiration on the roads. From the Italian and Scottish symphony to the Damnation of Faust by Berlioz, sketched out while driving in a carriage. With this thought behind I created the Rhine-cruise classical playlist.
This idea lies at the heart of The Cruise Playlist Project: an initiative that brings together my life as a performer, my love of travel, and cultural storytelling. Through my carefully designed playlists, music becomes a companion to the journey, something to experience before, during, and long after the trip itself.
Music has the power to sharpen memory, deepen emotion, and heighten our awareness of experience. Listening to the right music at the right moment transforms travel into something more immersive. A river cruise, in particular, unfolds slowly, inviting reflection, atmosphere, and continuity, qualities that resonate deeply with classical music.
The Rhine playlist was designed with this in mind. Flowing through regions shaped by German Romanticism, literary salons, and centuries of musical tradition, the Rhine offers an ideal setting for intimate piano music and song-inspired repertoire. Works rooted in lyricism, nostalgia, and inward reflection mirror the landscapes passing by: castles, vineyards and historic towns.
These playlists are not meant to be passive background music. Before your journey, they help you anticipate the cultural world you are about to enter. During the cruise, they accompany moments on deck, in the lounge, or in quiet reflection. After returning home, they allow you to relive the atmosphere, extending the journey through sound.
Created in collaboration with DeSalvio Travel, a luxury Virtuoso agency, the cruise playlists form part of a broader approach to travel: one that values depth, cultural context, and personal connection.
All playlists are curated and performed by me. They are intended to feel intimate, like a private recital accompanying your travels. The first selections are publicly available on Spotify; future playlists will be accessible through subscription, offering tailored listening experiences linked to specific destinations.
For travelers seeking something truly personal, I also offer individual consultations, selecting repertoire together and, when possible, recording music especially for their journey.
This project is part of my wider initiative, Composers and Travel, which explores how movement shaped the lives and music of great composers. Music is not simply an art form; it is living history. Experiencing it in the context of travel allows us not only to see a place, but to feel it.
Below, you will find the Rhine playlist, created for public listening. Have a great cruise!
