Robert Poortinga
Artist&Pianist
Robert Poortinga
My vision is to unite art forms for a bespoke concert experience that leaves a lasting impression. Balance and contrast—whether pairing music with food or inspiring my interpretations upon visual arts aesthetics—create an unfamiliar yet intriguing realm for the audience.
Robert Poortinga, Dutch concert pianist and recording artist, member of the PETROF Art Family and based in Portugal. He performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, with a particular specialisation in violin-piano repertoire.
Alongside his musical career, he develops cultural projects exploring the connections between music, art, history, architecture and gastronomy. His work also extends into European cultural travel, working closely together with DeSalvio Travel, where his knowledge of region's artistic traditions and cultural heritage contributes to a deeper understanding of the places and experiences he shares with travelers.
Digital and physical Albums
Alongside my concert activities, recording has become an increasingly important part of my artistic work. My digital catalogue brings together a wide range of piano repertoire, from major Romantic works by Chopin, Schumann and Grieg to lesser-known composers such as Henri Herz, Stephen Heller and Niels Gade.
My recording projects also explore different musical traditions, including Caribbean and Latin American piano music, transcriptions and arrangements, and interdisciplinary projects such as CuisineMusique.
New recordings continue to expand this collection, reflecting my interest in both established masterpieces and the discovery of repertoire that deserves greater recognition.
